Bartko Foundation luncheon
APR 29, 2019 10:00 AM
It was the lucky 13th annual Bartko Foundation Irene’s Dream Luncheon and boutique shopping Saturday at the Fairmont Pittsburgh hotel, Downtown. The afternoon began with shopping as guests browsed and bought jewelry, clothing and accessories before board President Melanie Gefert welcomed everyone to their tables. “Between 2004 and 2018, 364 women received grants and 768 children were impacted with over $1.2 million distributed,” she said. The foundation helps dreams come true for single minority mothers by supporting them in reaching their goals related to education, housing, transportation and more. Gisele Fetterman, second lady of Pennsylvania, served as honorary chair. “This is one of the best-attended events, with nearly 270 guests,” noted Ms. Gefert. She was joined by her sisters and fellow foundation founders Michele Bartko Bossers and Nedra Bartko Perkins (her husband, Carl Perkins, is executive director). This year’s IOB grant awardee was Hannah Moon, while the IOB support award went to Jensina Chutz.
#SEEN: Event chair LaTrenda Sherrill, table chair Rita Deluzio, WPXI-TV’s Michele Newell, Judge Eleanor Bush, Samuel Su, Dina Clark, Michelle Figlar and president of the Women’s Center and Shelter Nicole Molinaro Karaczun.
